#Bidenismypresident and why Republicans should support him

Joe Biden has been inaugurated as the 46th President. Sleepy Joe Biden, the man for which I disagree with about 90% of his entire agenda. I have genuine concerns with his foreign policy stances and a concern with how his leadership will affect the United States’ economic competitive both locally and on a global stage. I disagree with his character and worry he is a career, establishment politician with a long list of people of which he owes favors.

And yet I am 100% behind him as President. #Bidenismypresident

We live in a time of great political division. One where the center is continually shrinking and where peer pressure and social media algorithms encourage us to pick sides. But we’re all on one side. The side of America. We must remember that the success of the President is the success of America.

When it comes to policy it’s healthy for the American system to adopt policy from both ends of the spectrum. I disagree with nearly all of Biden’s economic agenda. And yet I want him to have a chance to implement it. Not to gridlock our system and have each side at each other’s neck. But to allow liberal policies to have a chance at succeeding. If they do, my mind might change as well as other Americans. And if the country is healthier for these changes then I am ultimately in support. If they fail and are proven to be unsuccessful, then I hope we learn lessons that will allow more effective future policy.

We need to get out of the habit of scoring based on ideology and instead call balls and strikes as they come. Not “I agree or disagree with this point” but evaluate if we are stronger or weaker as a result. Hold accountability not for our beliefs but for what is shown to be effective and beneficial. And I firmly believe Biden should have a chance.

It isn’t to say Biden should get a blank cheque. He should be held to the constitution and the values of America. His policies should be validated and evaluated and signs of failure should face scrutiny that we always right the train back on track.

America is still a project. And it aims to create a more perfect union. We can only do this with unity. I hope every American regardless if they voted Trump, Biden, third-party, or didn’t vote can get behind Biden and give him that chance.
